    • Carnival Cruise Lines is a world class organization with a commitment to quality affordable travel / leisure as well as to preserving the health of the natural marine environment. To help them manage the vast amount of environmental data across their fleet Lean Productivity Solutions was engaged to assist in the rapid development of an information repository and environmental decision support tool capable of collecting and filing environmental events, audits, and corrective actions as well as monitoring and tracking the completion of corrective actions. Lean Productivity Solutions agility and know-how matched their need for expediency and expert strategy. The Carnival Environmental team now have increased visibility and capability to monitor and track environmental events and greatly increased ability to standardize and disseminate corporate environmental policy and comply with regulatory mandates.When the Carnival Technical Operations team required a fleet wide application for managing federally regulated routine maintenance on their safety and firefighting appliances Lean Productivity Solutions was again retained to develop this decision support tool. Their challenge was to develop a contingency application intermediate to a large web based enterprise wide system two to three years away from completion. They had the constraints of time and a tight departmental budget supplemented partially by a corporate IT budget. Even though these were real impediments to a full-scale deployment of the maintenance application Lean Productivity Solutions helped them to identify those tasks and policies that were mission critical and automated them. Our solution enabled these tasks to be performed by end users _

      ·        Logging of regulatory maintenance requirements for specific families or groups of firefighting and lifesaving appliances and devices.

      ·        Capability to assign a group / family to components or devices at the serial number level.

      ·        Creation of a schedule of maintenance tasks at the serial number level based on the task requirements specified for its group / family.

      ·        Capability to perform forward scheduling on work-orders according to the next due date per specific maintenance task.

      ·        Creation of work-orders for repair work or other unplanned maintenance activity.

      ·        Work-order control and management between system and physical execution of maintenance work.

      ·        Ability to mark individual maintenance tasks as complete.

      ·        Maintenance records are automatically written to a printable log by book type so that hard copies of each logbook may be obtained on demand.

      ·        Specific work-orders may be researched, viewed, and printed by department, type of maintenance (Inspection, test, or maintenance) or by group / family.

      ·        Specific print jobs on log books may be ordered by department, appliance serial number, or appliance group / family, with date specification.

    •  For Editopia, while its enterprise middle ware software sufficed for its accounting needs, it was totally inadequate for supporting its sales, customer care, and project tracking activities. Even though several quality off-the-shelf products could have handled each of these needs individually Editopia found that like so many others, they could not afford to purchase multiple pieces of software, and that what they needed was a solution that tied all their core business processes and existing software together in a seamless automated solution. For help aligning and automating these processes Editopa turned to Lean Productivity Solutions. The solution called for an understanding of their unique quoting and sales order process which involved the bundling of digital production equipment, media, promotional offerings, and services, with installation, support, training, and management of multiple sales channels. Lean Productivity Solutions developed a series of custom embedded templates at the GUI and a product / service information layer that incorporated all of Editopia’s price rules and discounts. This layer provided capability to automatically determine price concessions for repeat-order-customers, and to adjust price levels for seasonal and special promotions. The data retrieved from the custom quotation, sales order, and project management templates over multiple channels were brought to a single repository to then be integrated into the accounting system. This allowed Editopia not only to meet their objective of a seamless automated system but also to provide rapid quotations and customer service to their clients.


Soaring diesel fuel prices, the need for improved productivity, the introduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) and energy use compliance legislation required an innovative approach to Fleet Performance Contracts utilising workflow automation and a live vehicle management system.
